As many as 14 Gryphons could see action with Canadian Football League teams in the next couple of weeks as the CFL kicks off its pre-season.
The following is the list of Gryphons who are still at CFL camps.

Ryan Bomben, Hamilton, OL
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Bomben is starting his second season with the Tiger-Cats, following four seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. He was picked in the fourth round (31st overall) of the 2010 draft after playing four seasons (2006 to 2009) with the Gryphs. He was an OUA first-team all-star in 2009.

Alex Charette, Montreal, WR
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Charette is in his second season with the Alouettes after they picked him in the fourth round (36th overall) of the 2015 draft. He had 24 catches for 208 yards in his rookie season with the Als after grabbing 62 passes for 742 yards and seven touchdowns in 2014, his fourth and final season with the Gryphons. He was a second-team OUA all-star that year.

Jeff Finley, Montreal, DL
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Finley is in his third season with the Alouettes. They selected him in the third round (22nd overall) of the 2014 draft and he had six tackles in the regular season and two sacks and a tackle in the playoffs to complete his rookie season. An elbow injury limited Finley to three games in 2015. He played four seasons with the Gryphons from 2010 to 2013 and had 44.5 tackles and nine sacks in his career.

A’dre Fraser, Montreal, WR
The 6-foot-1, 174-pound Fraser is at his first training camp with the Alouettes after they selected him in the sixth round (47th overall) of this year’s draft. In four seasons with the Gryphons starting in 2012, Fraser caught 85 passes for 1,414 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned 80 punts for 846 yards and 31 kickoffs for 751 yards.

Kyle Fraser-Audit, Ottawa, OL
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Fraser-Audit is at his first training camp with the RedBlacks after Ottawa picked him in the sixth round (45th overall) in this year’s draft. He’s played four seasons with the Gryphons from 2012 to 2016.

Rob Maver, Calgary, P
The 6-foot, 200-pound Maver is at his seventh training camp with the Stampeders after they drafted him in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2010 draft. He’s averaged 45 yards per punt since becoming Calgary’s full-time punter in 2012. Maver is the Gryphons’ all-time scoring leader with 290 points on 57 field goals, 105 converts and 17 singles. He also topped the 40-yard average three times in four seasons (2006-2009) with the Gryphs including a team-record 46.12 in 2008. He was a first-team CIS all-star and a first-team OUA all-star twice.

Curtis Newton, Toronto, LB
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Newton is in his first training camp with the Argos after they selected him in the fifth round (40th overall) of this year’s draft. Newton was an OUA second-team all-star in 2015 and a CIS and OUA all-star in 2014. He had more than 170 tackles and also had seven sacks, four fumble recoveries and five interceptions in four seasons (2012-2015) with the Gryphons.

Ryan Nieuwesteeg, Toronto, WR
The 5-foot-7, 170-pound Nieuwesteeg is in his first training camp with the Argos after they picked him in the eighth round (56th overall) of this year’s draft. He is the most prolific returner in Gryphon history with 970 kickoff return yards and 2,096 punt return yards and four touchdowns on punt returns. Nieuwesteeg has played four seasons (2012-15) with the Gryphons.

Jake Piotrowski, Montreal, OL
The 6-foot-4, 293-pound Piotrowski is in his fourth training camp with the Alouettes after they selected him in the fifth round (41st overall) of the 2013 draft. He became a member of the dress roster in 2014 and has suited up for 33 games in the last two seasons and is battling for a starting spot. He was with the Gryphons for five seasons (2009-2014), but sat out one year with an injury.

Jake Reinhart, Toronto, LS
The 6-foot, 228-pound Reinhart is in his fourth training camp with the Argos after twice signing with them as a free agent, once in 2013 and again the following year. A long snapper who also plays on special teams, he’s made 13 special teams tackles. He played five years with the Gryphons from 2008 to 2012. A linebacker, Reinhart led the Gryphons in tackles in 2011.

John Rush, Winnipeg, LB
The 6-foot, 220 pound Rush is in his first camp with the Blue Bombers after he signed as a free agent a couple of weeks after being named the winner of the President’s Trophy as Canadian university football’s top defensive player. He was twice an OUA all-star and twice a CIS all-star. He made more than 280 tackles and had 13 sacks in five seasons (2011-15) with the Gryphons.

Cam Thorn, Calgary, OL
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Thorn is in his first training camp with the Stampeders after they signed him after the start of their camp. He had been picked in the seventh round (58th overall) of the 2013 draft by the B.C. Lions and suited up in 36 games over two seasons for the Lions. He played five seasons (2009-2013) with the Gryphons and was an OUA and CIS all-star in his final year after converting from a defensive lineman to an offensive lineman.

Matt Toppan, Montreal, OL
The 6-foot-1, 276-pound Toppan is in his first training camp with the Alouettes after they selected him in the eighth round (64th overall) of this year’s draft. He played five seasons (2011-15) with the Gryphons and was a first-team OUA all-star in his final 2 years. One of his highlights with the Gryphons was scoring a tying touchdown late in a win over Western in 2014.

Cam Walker, Toronto, DL
The 6-foot-4, 237-pound Walker is in his second training camp with the Argos after they picked him in the third round (21st overall) of the 2015 draft. He suited up for 10 games in his rookie year and had two special teams tackles. A three-time OUA all-star during his four seasons (2011-2014) with the Gryphons, he had more than 120 tackles and had 14 sacks.

Others
Several former Gryphons are also on CFL management and training staffs.
Kyle Walters is in his third season as the general manager of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and his sixth year with the Bombers. He played five seasons (1992-1996) for the Gryphons and was head coach for four seasons (2006-2009) after being an assistant coach for two.
Mike O’Shea is in his third season as Winnipeg’s head coach after four seasons as the special teams coordinator of the Toronto Argonauts. He played with the Gryphons for four years (1989-1992) and was the top defensive player in the OUA in 1992.
Curtis Rukavina is in his third season with the Toronto Argonauts and first as the team’s director of player personnel. He had previously been a scouting assistant and a player personnel assistant with the team. Rukavina played four seasons (2009-2012) with the Gryphons.
Jarryd Baines is in a member of the coaching staff for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and is in charge of offensive quality control. He played five seasons (2008-2012) with the Gryphons.
Matt Nesbitt is in his first season as an offensive line assistant coach with the Toronto Argonauts. He wrapped up his five years as a centre with the Gryphons last fall in their Yates Cup-winning campaign.
Marcello Simmons, defensive backs coach with the Gryphons in 2011, is in his first season as the special teams coach with the B.C. Lions.
